Cooking Club... Sugar Cookies

We just wanted to thank Heather for hosting Cooking Club this month and teaching us the techniques on frosting beautiful sugar cookies! We had so much fun! Thanks again Heather!

Here are her recipes:

        Sugar Cookie Dough

      8 oz butter

      1 1/3 cup sugar

      1 t salt

      1 egg

      2 oz milk

      1 t vanilla extract

      4 cups flour

      1 t baking powder

    1. Combine flour, baking powder and salt, set aside.
    2. Cream butter and sugar.
    3. Add egg then scrape.
    4. Add milk and vanilla.
    5. Add dry ingredients in to mixer on low speed. Mix until combined.
    6. Chill dough for an hour. Roll dough on floured surface between 1/8-1/4 inch.
    7. Cut shapes and bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 for 8-10 minutes. They should not have color, but they should not appear wet..





            Royal Icing

      3 egg whites

      1 pinch cream of tarter

      1 Pound powdered sugar

      1 t vanilla extract

      Food coloring

    1. Combine whites and c.o.t. slightly with wire whisk.
    2. Add powdered sugar and mix with whisk attachment on medium speed, scrape edges.
    3. Continue mix until there are no lumps. Add flavoring.
    4. Adjust thickness by adding water to thin or powdered sugar to thicken.
    5. Divide icing and add color.
